ANU Orchestra Semester 2 Auditions

Are you an orchestral musician looking to play in the ANU Orchestra in 2026?

Housed at the ANU School of Music and conducted by Rowan Harvey-Martin, the ANU Orchestra offers a unique opportunity to perform alongside some of the best music students at ANU.

Rehearsals

Orchestra members rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00–9:00 pm at the ANU School of Music.

Audition dates

• Applications for Semester 2 auditions are now open and will close on Monday 20 July 2026.
• All instrumentalists are welcome to apply.
• Auditions will be held during O-Week. Exact audition times will be emailed individually to applicants at the start of O-Week. Applicants should keep themselves available for the full audition period.
• Please note that all string leadership roles have already been filled for this semester. Applicants are therefore not required to prepare any leadership excerpts.

Audition eligibility and requirements

To audition, applicants must complete the online sign-up form and submit a video recording of each required excerpt. The excerpts to be prepared are also available on the website.

Each excerpt must be recorded as a separate file, and each file should be named using the applicant’s surname followed by the composer’s surname. For example: Smith–Beethoven.mp3.

It is perfectly acceptable to record using a phone or other simple recording device, provided the sound quality is clear.

All recordings must be submitted via email to Rowan Phemister at rowan.phemister@anu.edu.au by Monday 20 July 2026.
